More than 12 years of dedicated fundraising has paid off with the opening of a purpose-built youth club in Woodstock.
The Woodstock Youth Centre committee held a grand opening event to thank all those who have contributed to the state-of-the-art clubhouse.
The project, which has helped replace the dilapidated building in Recreation Road, cost £310,000 and was officially opened by the Duke of Marlborough.
He said: “This is a wonderful example of a community working together for the young people of Woodstock and surrounding villages and I would like to add my gratitude to all those involved in making it happen.”
Staff are looking forward to welcoming members old and new to enjoy facilities including games, computer and art rooms. It also includes a kitchen and café.
Jane Hibberd, vice-chairman and youth leader at the centre, said she is ‘relieved and extremely happy’ the building is now ready.
“It is everything I hoped for and more,” she added.
