Butler helps serve up 15-point win for Wheatley

Lowly Abingdon were no match for Wheatley, who smashed their travel sick visitors 33-18 in a one-sided BBO Premier fixture on Saturday.

Toby Butler, Iain Downer and Jack Taylor all crashed over in the first half for the hosts to rack up a 21-13 lead at half time.

Arron Laman increased the lead in the second half by scoring all the points himself, including converting one of his two tries.

Abingdon tries came from Jamie Lochrie and George Law.

Elsewhere in the division, Didcot won 15-8 at Hungerford to leapfrog them to seventh.

In National League 2, Chinnor remain a point clear at the top following a narrow 37-34 win at Bury St Edmunds.

Henley made it six wins from eight with a 43-28 win at home to Worthing.

In South West 1 East, Banbury made it three wins from three with a 47-22 win at Wimborne while Oxford Harlequins beat Old Centralians 27-10 at home.

There were defeats however for Witney and Grove. Witney were hammered 58-10 at leaders Old Patesians while Grove lost their 10th game of the season in a 30-25 defeat on their travels to Salisbury.

Bicester (13th) host Banbury (3rd) on Saturday, while Grove (12th) welcome Stratford (9th) to south Oxfordshire and Witney (8th) visit Oxford Harlequins (5th).
