Soon-to-be Oxford University student Malala Yousafzai met education activists who are working to challenge the barriers that keep girls out of school.

The Gulmakai Network, Malala Fund’s new initiative, will support the work of 10 education champions in developing countries to help speed up progress towards girls’ secondary education around the world.

The Nobel Prize winner met the educators and activists in the city to talk about combatting obstacles to education, including poverty, war and gender discrimination.

Malala will study philosophy, politics and economics at Lady Margaret Hall from next month.
