Are you missing antique ceremonial sword?

Police are appealing for the public’s help to reunite this blade with its rightful owner.

A passer-by discovered the historic item on an Oxford street on August 27.

The sword has a number of inscriptions on it, including: ‘From his affectionate friends Ida and Tom Downing’, ‘Edward Thorne of London’, ‘B G Baley’, ‘April 7th 1915’ and ‘Royal Engineers’.

A police spokesperson said: “We would like to reunite the sword with the rightful owner as it is presumably of sentimental value.

“If you would like to claim the sword, please bring proof of ownership to the front counter at St Aldates Station, Oxford.”

If you have any information relating to the case, contact police on 101 quoting reference ‘URN 1700 of 27/08/17’.
