The Royal Yachting Association’s (RYA) Try Sailing events are back for 2017.
There is no better time for your first active adventure afloat, or for those who want to get their sea legs back with the “Try Sailing” events this summer.
Oxford Sail Training Trust is one of the venues inviting you to try sailing for free. There are two dates – a women-only special on July 22 and a sailing day for everyone on August 26.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never stepped into a boat or onto a windsurfer before. You and your family can get afloat and sample the freedom and exhilaration of a fantastic outdoor sport at this friendly centre based at Farmoor Reservoir.
With hands on activities planned throughout the summer and with volunteers and professional qualified instructors on hand these events will provide you with a safe and fun introduction or return to sailing.
From 9.30am to 4pm, the trust’s qualified instructors will be on hand to welcome you. All you need is a towel, some shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting wet and your enthusiasm. The trust will provide all the equipment needed, and this event is open to all ages from seven upwards.
Paul Jamieson of Oxford Sail Training Trust said: “You’ll be working with our fully qualified RYA instructors at our reservoir in the heart of Oxfordshire.
“We will be focusing on getting you out for a taste of what sailing has to offer in a safe and fun environment.”
The taster sessions are supported by the RYA. Susie Moore, RYA regional development officer for the south, said: “Summer is a great time to feel inspired and to get out on the water. Sailing can be as physical or relaxing as you like. Why not try it for yourself for absolutely free?”
Oxford Sail Training Trust is a recognised RYA training centre meaning it conforms to the highest standards of quality and safety.
