Housebuilder David Wilson Homes has teamed up with one of its top interior designers Artspace to show homeowners in Oxfordshire how they can get the latest trends in their home this spring.
Now the nights have gotten lighter and the sun is beginning to shine, it’s a time for new beginnings, meaning a lot of people are thinking about redecorating their home or moving to a brand new property.
Managing director of Artspace Interior Design, Kate Letteriello, has given her handy tips on how homeowners can get creative in their home, and create an ambience that’s perfect for this season.
Kate, who has worked in the industry for over 16 years, said: “Design trends constantly change throughout the year and as we are now in spring time we are seeing much more colour being used throughout homes and lovely patterns that really help to brighten your mood and reflect on the sunshine.
“Spring definitely represents new life with plants coming in to bloom, things are beginning to grow again and we see much more sunshine, it can be very uplifting after a few cold and grey months.
“The show homes we design at David Wilson Homes developments showcase the homes potential while creating a memorable viewing for house hunters that makes them feel like their dream home is a reachable goal.”
1. Use pastel colours for a soft transition from winter to summer
Pastel colours are generally used in spring as they’re a soft transition from the warm atmospheric colours of winter in to the cool bright colours of summer. They’re also great for layering, meaning that you don’t have to stick with one colour and can use a few different shades in one room.
This season, navy is the new black so why not use a mix of pastel colours with glamorous velvets and opulent finishes such as marble and copper to transform your home?
2. Brighten your home with patterns, plants and perfumes
Bright, botanical prints are currently very trendy for the season, turning your home into a tropical paradise that will take you into the summer months. The most popular feature colour is green pantone, which can be mixed with other tones of green to create a fresh and uplifting look in your home. The colour green is symbolic of new beginnings, making spring the perfect time for using it as the outdoors starts to bloom.
Various house plants are also very popular at the moment and will really brighten up the home. House plants are a great way to celebrate the season of new beginnings and are easy to look after whilst also looking great in your home.
Spring is also the perfect time to give your home a bit of a pamper, so why not invest in some reed diffusers to bring the scent of spring indoors?
3. Swap out your accessories for colour and sparkle
Swap your cushions around or trade in any dark, rich coloured accessories for light pastels and brighter colours. Buy a mix of accessories in different pastel colours and use chrome and glass accessories to inject a bit of sparkle into your home. And to brighten up your walls, why not invest in some bright artwork and colourful canvases that you can hang around the house?
Rob Allen, sales director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We always try to keep up with the latest design trends to suit each season and communicate our brand and style through this.
“Show homes are also a place for inspiration for many of our customers who come back to seek out ideas for decorating their own homes.
“These top tips are a great way for people who are currently in the process of moving, or existing homeowners, to achieve a stylish and seasonal look in their own home.”
